New York City Thanksgiving Day Parade
For 89 years the Thanksgiving Day Parade has been the official kick-off to the holiday season! Every year, more than 3.5 million people in New York and 50 million people at home are mesmerized by the balloons, one of a kind floats and spectacular performances. The parade starts at Central Park West and West 77th Street, heads down Central Park West and travels east along Central Park South turning on Sixth Avenue where it continues the journey to 34th Street. Seating Solutions was there once again this year to supply seating for the parade.
For the Central Park viewers Seating Solutions supplied our safety code compliant, picket railed, Ultimate aluminum bench style seating system. The unit set up on Central Park West spanned from 68th Street to 77th Street. At the very start on W 77th Street we provided one command platform with a clear sided tent, heater, tables and folding chairs. The unit built on Central Park South spanned from 6th Ave to 7th Ave. All together the uptown Central Park units seated upwards of 10,000 ticketed spectators. Delivery and assembly began over 2 weeks before Thanksgiving Day.
The seating on 34th street is of the utmost importance. This is where viewers get to watch all of the performances that are televised live. Seating Solutions began assembly on Thanksgiving eve and worked overnight to build over 1,100 premium Ultimate bench seats as well as an elevated 15’ x 5’ platform with staircase. To ensure viewers weren’t too cold waiting for the parade to start on a brisk November morning, we made sure our VIP benches were padded for insulation and added comfort. Immediately after the parade on Thanksgiving Day the removal began and we had all of our employees home in time for Turkey!
