StubHub

David Graham commented on our StubHub job and said:

"Mr. Price,

First, let me say that it was my sincerest intention to send this note four weeks ago, but work and home suddenly both got very busy and as many times as I thought about doing it, I was not able to get it written until now.

Next, some background: My wife Susan and I attended the Astros versus Red Sox game on Sunday, June 29. Susan was very excited about going because she had been out of town for three weeks before that and was not able to go to any of the Yankees games (we had club seats for the Friday game and good tickets for the Saturday game) or the Friday Red Sox game that I also had good tickets for. The Sunday Red Sox tickets were the last ones that I bought back in February (when I was so graciously allowed to buy Yankees/Red Sox tickets as a "Third Chance Lottery Winner") and were consequently the least desirable of the lot - Section 436. At one point, I had plans of finding a friend or coworker who would appreciate "just being there" and selling the tickets to them (since I was already going to the Friday game). But Susan called me and said, "Don't sell those tickets; I want to go and I don't care where the seats are!" So we went, got something to eat, and made our way to our seats - way, way out in Section 436. We sat down and found that the foul pole was virtually in the line of sight between us and home plate (our seats were on Row 1, so it could have been worse, I suppose). After sitting there a few minutes, eating our food and watching the game, a pair of Coca-Cola Park Patrol girls sitting behind us leaned forward and asked us how we liked the seats. I'm sure that my wife's response was pleasant. Then they said that they were thinking about moving us down to some better seats in the Club Level. Susan almost jumped out of her seat and said "the Stub Hub seats?!?" They said, "Yes, you know about those?" My wife, gushing with glee at this point, replied, "I've been dying to sit in those seats since the first time I saw them!" So at the end of the first inning, we stood up and excitedly waved to everyone in the park from the jumbotron, and then proceeded to walk to the club level, escorted by the girls.

Now for the reason I'm writing: I wanted the Astros organization to know that getting to sit in the Stub Hub seats on Sunday, June 29 at the Astros/Red Sox game was the most fun that my wife and I have ever had at an Astros game, and we have been to many!!! We were treated like 'King and Queen for the day" by the staff in the area; everyone talked to us and asked us how we were enjoying the seats and the game. Several fans came by and said, "Wow, how did you get to sit there?" The leather recliners were incredibly comfortable and having the HD TV was super - especially since it was a live feed (versus standard TV delay). I was very excited about the prospect of getting to see replays of 'close' plays that the other 42,000+ fans in the ballpark would not get to see because of those [damn] MLB rules I don't remember there being any close calls against the Astros, but having the HD TV was still great. And just getting to be in the Club Level versus the other side of the foul pole was awesome. Susan has been on a first name basis with several of the bartenders since shortly after the season started ;)

In closing, on behalf of both my wife and myself, I would like to thank the Astros organization, Stub Hub, and our favorite Park Patrol girls, Nina and Chantal, for a day at the ballpark that we will never forget. We've already recounted the event many times to friends and family, and I guarantee the story will be retold many more times in the years to come. This will rank way up there in our family lore, not too far below the story we love to tell the most: "Yes, we were there at the Rose Bowl and saw Vince Young and the Texas Longhorns beat the USC Trojans for the National Championship!"

Respectfully yours, and Go Astros!"
